In a panel discussion, you will have the opportunity to hear from experts who will discuss the presence and impact of racial and religious surveillance in America. Experts will include Margari Hill of MuslimARC, Michael German of the Brennan Center for Justice, Ramzi Kassem of CUNY Clear, Farhana Khera of Muslim Advocates, with moderation by Kashif Shaikh of Pillars Fund.

 

The evening is being presented by the Pillars Fund with non-profit beneficiaries including Muslim Advocates, whose mission is "working in the courts, in the halls of power, and in communities to halt bigotry in its tracks" and CUNY Clear, whose mission is "to support Muslim and all other client, communities, and movements in the New York City area and beyond that are targeted by local, state, or federal government agencies under the guise of national security and counterterrorism."

In a special panel and performance, you will have the opportunity to watch and listen to performances from artists including dance and music from Farah Yasmeen Shaikh, the choreographer and dancer in the film who also plays Dua's mother. 

 

The evening’s beneficiaries are Bedari, whose mission is "Promoting equal rights of all (including women, men, boys and girls) in society through capacity building, education and advocacy" and Race Forward, whose mission is "In partnership with communities, organizations, and sectors, we build strategies to advance racial justice in our policies, institutions, and culture."

Join us for "Immigrants & Identity" with I’LL MEET YOU THERE. In a panel discussion, you will have the opportunity to listen to a conversation on the transitional identities owing to immigration, racial, and religious interaction with new societies and cultures. The panel will be moderated by Jose Antonio Vargas and will include Cristela Alonzo, Wajahat Ali of The New York Times, and more to be announced.

 

The evening is presented by South Asia InstituteCAPE, the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment, and Define American and will benefit both CAPE and Define American.

Join us for "Workshop: Guarding the Frame" with I’LL MEET YOU THERE. In the Director's Workshop, you will have the opportunity to watch an engaging case study with director Iram Parveen Bilal, Cinematographer Anthony C. Kuhnz and Production Designer Michael Fitzgerald on the challenges of creating high production value on a limited budget with specific scene and work examples featuring tools they used during production. 

 

Glass Elevator, Women in Film and Seed & Spark are presenting partners for this screening. Part of the proceeds will be donated to Film Fatales, whose mission is to advocate for parity in the film industry and support an inclusive community of hundreds of women and non-binary feature film and television directors nationwide."

Joining us will be lead actors Nikita Tewani (Dua), Faran Tahir (Majeed), Muhammad Qavi Kahn (Baba), Sheetal Sheth (Shonali), Iram Parveen Bilal (Writer/Director/Producer) and more of the creative team.

 

The evening is being presented by Gold House, and the beneficiary is the National Domestic Violence Hotline, whose mission is to provide essential tools and support to help survivors of domestic violence so they can live their lives free of abuse.
